Nowhere does ice creams quite like Cornwall, which is why you’ll never be too far away from a parlour or café serving up some of these delicious delights in this beautiful county! Whether you like fruity flavours or classic vanilla, you’ll definitely be able to find your perfect scoop whilst on a Cornwall caravan holiday. Read on to discover some of the must-try ice creams.
Mr. B’s
Offering artisan ice cream seven days a week is Mr. B’s, located in Hayle. Think of any flavour and you can almost guarantee Mr. B’s will have it, whether it’s fruity, sweet, salty or even spicy. The parlour is loved by locals and tourists alike because of the exciting and delicious flavours.
We spoke to Nikki from the team to find out more: “Our ice cream is made in Hayle using locally sourced ingredients along with the finest Italian flavourings. We have over 200 flavours, but as each shop will only hold sixteen each, we rotate our flavours so, there are always different ones to choose from.
“The most popular flavour is Ferrero Rocher but also Wild Cherry Ripple and Snickers (a creamy ice cream rippled with peanut butter, chocolate and caramel) but our more unusual flavours include white Kinder Bueno, Battenburg, triple choc chunk choc fudge choc chip ripple!
“In our two shops in Hayle – one in Copperhouse and the other at Foundry – we also serve traditional ice cream desserts such as knickerbocker glory and banana split.”

Roskilly’s Ice Cream, Nauti but Ice
Roskilly’s have been making ice cream for over 60 years, so it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about making the perfect scoop. It began with the family making clotted cream, which then progressed into making their delicious ice cream in the late 80s, which is made using their own milk from their farm located on the Lizard Peninsular.
You can give Roskilly’s ice cream a try at Nauti but Ice, a harbourside café in Porthleven, who also serve up some tasty meals and homemade cakes. We spoke to Dave from Nauti but Ice to find out why they choose Roskilly’s: “It is produced at their family farm on the Lizard (a few miles from us) from a heard of special Jersey cows which produce superior creamy milk. The family have been producing ice cream for several generations. It’s the local’s choice!”
Dave continued to tell us which is the most popular flavour: “Salt caramel definitely for the mature pallet, but strawberry, chocolate and bubble gum are very popular with our younger customers. Clotted cream vanilla is, of course, a classic – with over 30 different flavours it can be tricky to choose. As customers walk into the shop, I like to try and guess what flavour they are going to order, I’m getting quite good at it although every now and again someone really surprises me!”
Tallships Creamery
Situated in the historic port of Charlestown is Tallships Creamery, a family run business who love to recreate flavours and textures that you’d have found in old fashioned ice cream parlours, along with the traditional toppings! Plus, all the recipes are made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients.
We asked Nigel from the Tallships Creamery to tell us more about their ice cream: “It’s handmade with love using only the best and most natural local ingredients. It has been voted the best in Cornwall by Cornwall Live and by the Manchester Guardian Newspaper. We have won numerous awards from Taste of the West for our flavours, including Cornish vanilla gold, iced clipper coffee, chocolate booty, pear and ginger and raspberry sorbet.”
Nigel continued to tell us which flavour he recommends you try first: “Our honeycomb explosion is our most popular flavour, closely followed by vanilla gold. We would recommend that customers try the vanilla first and this is the basis for all our other flavours!”
With all the recognition they have received, we asked Nigel why he thinks ice cream is exceptionally popular in Cornwall: “People associate ice cream with sunshine and Cornwall can often be warm and sunny! Also, Cornwall produces some of the best clotted cream in the country, and our ice cream is made using it.”
Callestick Farm
Since 1953 the Parker family have run the Callestick Farm, where they produce their delicious range of ice creams and sorbets using the fresh whole milk from their free-range herd.
We spoke to Amy from the team at Callestick Farm to find out more: “Callestick Farm Ice Cream is made using milk all from our own herd of grass-fed cows that graze here on our farm in the heart of Cornwall. We like to keep things as local as possible with sea salt used from the Cornish Sea Salt Company and clotted cream from Rodda’s. Even our freshwater sorbets are made using our farms own natural spring water!”
Amy also reveals their most popular flavour: “Our award-winning vanilla is definitely our most popular with other flavours like mint choc crisp, double chocolate fudge and clotted cream & blackcurrants up there as best sellers. I recommend trying pistachio – creamy, nutty and indulgent, pure luxury. Failing that, try our deliciously vibrant blood orange sorbet.”
The team welcome guests to come and visit the farm, where you can enjoy ice cream and a hot drink in their tearoom and learn more about how their ice cream is made. It’s also a great activity for the little ones, who can meet some of the farm animals. Amy adds: “In our Callestick Farm tearoom you’ll find a cabinet of eighteen flavours of ice cream along with hot waffles, warm cookie dough and homemade cream teas. We have customers all over Cornwall and at many beaches and attractions, national trust properties and restaurants.”
Amy shares her thoughts on why Cornwall is the place to go for ice cream: “When most people think of the seaside and the sheer bliss of being on holiday, they imagine an ice cream in hand. We hope Callestick Ice Cream gives that feeling to our customers with every lick!”
